Hi, I'm Jessica and welcome to Sloth Fitness Studio! I'm sure you're thinking, "Sloths have nothing to do with fitness". And you are right. Sloths aren't known for being physically active, but neither was I. I had gained 45 pounds and even hour sessions 5 days a week with a personal trainer wasn't making the weight budge. I looked fine but I felt awful all the time. I barely had the energy to make it to the gym, let alone do an hour workout with someone yelling at me and telling me to stop making excuses. So eventually I just stopped showing up all together. I accepted that having a chronic illness in my 30's meant that I was going to have to live uncomfortably. Then my life was turned upside down when my mom unexpectedly suffered from an unknown spinal cord injury which caused paralysis. I initially started doing yoga because I wanted to learn how I could help her stay active. At first, I thought it was going to be impossible for us to enjoy exercising consistently but then I realized we just needed to modify the movements to shapes that were accessible to us and Sloth Fitness Studio was born. A fitness studio focusing on functional fitness for people who may not feel comfortable in the curated perfection of most fitness classes.  It quickly became a passion and our classes together became my favorite part of the week. If a sloth, like me, can do it, then anyone can! I believe that exercise should be fun and accessible to everyone and I strive  to use my knowledge of barre, yoga, and personal training to create engaging classes that will make you fall in love with your body and all the amazing things that it can do. I look forward to working with you.
